Rotary International Ssese Island Outreach Program

Ssese Island Rotary in conjunction with Bainbridge Island Rotary of Washington teamed together to create a one day outreach program for fishing communities on the Ssese Island. The Rotarians supplied both dentist and doctors for the villagers that lined up outside starting at 10am. It was a complete success.

Ssese Islands is home to fishing communities that have very limited, if any, health care. They do not have enough money to reach mainland, so this outreach program, which happens every three months, is one of the only options for help.

The Rotarians are amazing...!!! It was a fabulous day for photos.

Bead For Life

"BeadforLife eradicates extreme poverty by creating bridges of understanding between hard working and impoverished Africans and North Americans who want to create a world that works for all. Ugandan women turn colorful recycled paper, into beautiful beads. This beauty becomes income, food, medicine, school fees, and hope. It is a small miracle. Our members are women with children living on less than two dollars a day. Many have fled the war in Northern Uganda. Others live with HIV or other serious health challenges. They are incredibly welcoming, hard working, resilient, and creative." Bead for Life Organizzation

Bead for Life has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to create a new village for some of the programs participants. These women are financial responsible for their homes, which gives them a sense of pride and purpose. It was a great day of photographing their responses to their almost complete new homes.

Some Like it Square. Ndali Lodge. Crater Lakes. Near Fort Portal, Uganda

I stepped into Ndali Lodge and immediately my backpacker/photography anxiety washed away. I only ate lunch here, a perfect steak with caramelized onions and crispy potatoes, however, I fell in love with its eccentric and maze-like gardens and oddities around the house. Take a look at my favorite little world! If you are ever in the crater lakes near Fort Portal and can splash out at 250 per little apartment... I suggest it! It's the perfect elegance meets rustic.
