Running with the Kenyans
Hi, here are a few photos from Iten, Kenya where runners train at high elevation for marathons and track and field. It was a great few days of learning about marathons and following around the champs. These images are an overview of what a typical person would find walking down the street. I'm going back in a week to focus more on the typical living conditions of runners and follow around one or two people for a day. It's a great place.

My Favorite Road in Kenya

This is Kakamega Road, which runs into a deep forest. I just fell in love with this road...the saturated red dirt and all the people passing by in the rain. Here are a few snaps from my journey walking down the street.

Tea Time
These batch of images are for a safari company based in Nairobi, Kenya. I was assigned to photograph the tea plantation workers. It was a great day of taking snaps!
Masai Village
I was lucky enough to be given the chance to photograph in a typical Masai Village in Southern Kenya. A friend of mine is Masai and these are some of his family friends. Enjoy!

I'm Here...Nairobi, Kenya!!!
Hi Everyone,
I arrived safetly in Nairobi about seven days ago. This week has been all about understanding this new country and educating myself about interesting cultural stories.
I'll be basing in Nairobi for at least the next three or four weeks. However, I'll be running around the country taking photos. So far, I've worked on an article about AIDS victims and I'm putting a story together about hip hop in Africa. Also, I'll be working for an NGO called Beacon of Hope this next week...I can't wait to see all the photos!!!!
I promise photos to come soon. Feel free to email me. jessica@jessicascranton.com
thanks,
Jess

New Work New Work New Work
It has been some time since I last posted. Don't worry! I'm still snapping away like a crazy woman. You can view some new work at
www.feastsofsaints.blogspot.com
My friend Danielle Oteri and I are making a book on Italian Saint Festivals in America and Italy. If all goes well, next summer will be spent in S. Italy photographing local festivals that are slowly disappearing. I can't wait for the red wine and food...I'm dreaming of ripe fruit and veggies and amazing gelato. Espresso. Frutta di Mare....the list goes on...
My work from India was published in the Northeastern Magazine. You can check that out at....
www.numag.neu.edu/winter05/welcomewinter05.html
Enjoy the photos. My brand spankin' new website will be up and running by the end of the month (cross fingers)
Good luck and best wishes.

Orange Sari. Pushkar, India.

These are a few images from Pushkar, India. Pushkar is a holy town that is surrounded by a lake where Hindus come to bath and pray. It is usually against rules to photograph the ghats, however, I was given permission by a priest and asked all my subjects for an 'OK' before snapping the photos. This website does not do the colors of these images justice...they are way better in person.
